The story of Rose

I'll be honest: rose isn't my favourite scent. For anything to do with skin, though, Rose is a top oil. I use it as a face serum after cleansing, and my skin feels soft and cared for.

And when life feels heavy, I roll Rose over my heart. Then the scent is comfort to me, a warm hand at a moment when I need one.

Rose oil is considered one of the most precious oils in the world, and it's easy to see why once you know what goes into it: 5 ml of pure oil takes around 10,000 roses. They're picked by hand before sunrise, and because the petals are so delicate, they have to be distilled the same day. In the roller the oil is already diluted, so you can use a little of such a precious oil every day.

The Persians perfected the distillation of rose water and rose oil in the Middle Ages, and from Persia the rose conquered Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The Damask rose in this roller is named after Damascus. For thousands of years, roses have stood for love and beauty.

How to use Rose Touch

1.Skincare: after cleansing, a few strokes over your cheeks, forehead and neck, gently massaged in as a face serum.
2.Heavy day: roll it over your heart, rest your hand there and take a few slow breaths.

馃實 Where it comes from

The Damask roses for Rose Touch come from Bulgaria, famous for its Valley of the Roses. Early in the morning, when the scent is strongest, the pickers harvest the flowers by hand.

The leaves are steam-distilled locally. Tea tree earns up to five times more there than maize, and for every kilo of oil a share goes into a development fund the cooperatives run themselves. Harvesters drill a small hole and tap the resin like maple syrup; one tree can live up to four hundred years. doTERRA helped the harvesters with protective gear, training and a cooperative of their own, so they earn more and stay in charge. The seed pods are picked, dried for around thirty-six hours and steam-distilled. In Honduras the Poverty Stoplight project helps families work their own way out of poverty; one of the farmers built a house with running water from it. The leaves are steam-distilled, giving the fresh, invigorating oil known for its high 1,8-cineole content.
