doTERRA Lavender

What it does

Lavender owes its name to the Latin 'lavare', to wash: the Romans added the flowers to their bathwater, and in Provence washerwomen spread clean linen over the lavender bushes to dry. doTERRA's Lavender grows on the high plains of Bulgaria, where the fields turn deep purple in summer. The flowering tops are harvested and steam-distilled close to the field.

Lavender is one of the most researched essential oils in the world, with dozens of studies on its two main constituents, linalool and linalyl acetate. On the skin it's also one of the gentlest oils there is: diluted, it calms things down after a day in the sun or after shaving. And in your diffuser, half an hour before bedtime, the aroma quietly becomes the signal that the day is done.

Emotionally, lavender is the oil of your voice: of saying what's going on inside. There's a reason people reach for this bottle on days when everything piles up. The scent gives you room to settle first, and then to say what wants to be said.

One drop, every evening

Anchor the scent to your evening routine: one drop on the edge of your pillowcase, the same one every night. After a few weeks the scent itself tells your brain it's bedtime. It's called scent anchoring, and it works surprisingly well.
